The Kishwaukee Community Hospital Wellness Club is an exciting program focused on improving your health through education and lifestyle adjustment techniques. In conjunction with area restaurants, fitness centers and Kishwaukee Community Hospital staff, the Wellness Club promotes a healthy lifestyle and overall well-being.

Balance Screening: Assess your risk of falling

February 12
10 am to Noon
This screening utilizes the “Timed Up and Go Test” (TUG) to help identify individuals who are prone to falls. An assessment is done based on the time it takes to get up from a chair, perform a task and return to the chair.

Diabetic Foot Screening

5:30 to 6:30 pm
Join us to evaluate alterations in blood flow, sensation and foot and ankle deformities to assess your personal level for potential complications that are common in the diabetic population. This screening will be held prior to “What Pre-Diabetes Means to You”.

Incorporating Fitness Into
Everyday Activity

Join a KCH licensed athletic trainer, to learn practical exercises that can be done on a daily basis at home without the use of expensive equipment. This program will cover degenerative conditions as well as the physiological basis for why exercise is important in your everyday life.

Let's Dance

6:30 to 8 pm
Dancing is a great way to be active, have fun and improve your heart through movement. Join us to learn the fox trot and the rumba in this 4-session dance class taught by experienced dance instructor Bret Hamilton.

The Facts About Sleep Disorder

May 19
6:30 to 8:30 pm
Mohammed Ghabra, MD, Board Certified in Neurology, Neurophysiology and Sleep Disorders Medicine, will discuss common sleep disorders including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and sleep walking, as well as less common sleep disorders. A sleep disorder screen will be provided for participants to complete. A tour of the Sleep Lab will be given following the presentation.

What Pre-Diabetes Means to You

There are 54 million people in the U.S. who have pre-diabetes. The good news is that it is possible to delay or prevent Type 2 diabetes from developing. Pre-diabetes is indicated by blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not yet high enough to be diagnosed with diabetes. Come learn if you are at risk and how you can work toward a healthier self!
