Women's Health
KCH partners with community-based physicians to keep current with the tools and techniques for addressing women’s unique health needs, from gynecological care to breast cancer and cardiac services.
By having your annual mammogram at KCH, you benefit from the sharp images produced by our top-of-the-line mammography machine and the comfort of a mammo pad. Additionally, a computer-aided detection system gives the radiologist an instant second opinion. You can schedule an annual mammogram on your own without a doctor’s prescription by calling (800) 397-1521, x152975 or (815) 748-2975.
The most up to date diagnostic breast cancer services are available, including digital stereotactic needle biopsy, ultrasound-guided biopsy and breast MRI. Sentinel lymph node biopsy and breast reconstruction are options for women who need surgical treatment for breast cancer.
The KCH Laboratory analyzes Pap tests for local physicians using the ThinPrep technology which more accurately detects cancerous cells.
Excessive bleeding in pre- and post-menopausal women and incontinence problems also can be treated. For a physician referral, call (800) 397-1521, Ext. 152974 or (815) 748-2974.
Emergency Room physicians and our cardiac team understand the differences between women and men when it comes to heart disease and can quickly assess if you’re having a heart attack. You can schedule a cardiac risk assessment by calling our Heart to Heart Program at (800) 397-1521, x158353 or (815) 748-8353.
