Prenatal Client Intake Form
The Breastfeeding Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital offers a variety of complimentary services and support for breastfeeding success for moms, babies and families. Our hospital remains dedicated to supporting you through your breastfeeding journey, from prenatal education, to our trained Maternity Suites nursing staff, our lactation consultants and breastfeeding support groups both in-person and online, we’re here for you and your baby.
Personalized Care and Services
- Breastfeeding Warm Line: Please call 815.748.8350. Our lactation consultants offer telephone support to answer questions or concerns about breastfeeding from 12:30-4:30pm Monday through Friday. When not immediately available, messages left for the consultants will be returned on the next business day.
- Outpatient Breastfeeding Consultations: In addition to the Breastfeeding Warm Line, we offer one on one breastfeeding consultations with a lactation consultant to provide counsel and education to breastfeeding mothers and babies. The appointment may include taking a history, observing a breastfeeding session as well as education and a follow-up plan. This service is by appointment only so that we may serve you better.
- Breastfeeding Class for Expectant Parents: Learn the benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby, getting started, preventing common problems and how to pump and store breast milk. This class is offered many times throughout the year, current dates and times are listed at www.kishhospital.org/programs or by calling 815.748.8962.
- Mom’s Breastfeeding Group: The Kish Hospital’s Mom's Breastfeeding Support Group meets at the hospital on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 10-11:30am. Our lactation consultant facilitates the discussion, and offers support and encouragement. Moms, babies, siblings, and expectant moms are always welcome. Pregnant women gain knowledge in preparation for breastfeeding and mothers receive support and learn from the wisdom of experienced breastfeeding mothers.

- Mommy & Me Breastfeeding Group: Valley West’s Mommy & Me Breastfeeding Support Group meets at the Valley West Medical Office building on the 1st Monday of each month from 10 am - Noon. Mothers and babies are welcome to attend this breastfeeding group to discuss the joys and challenges of breastfeeding. Drop in with your baby to meet other breastfeeding moms and receive the support and encouragement you need. Facilitated by a certified lactation consultant, this group is meant to provide support and assist with any issues you and baby may be experiencing with feeding.
Retail Boutique
- Breast Pump Rentals/Purchase: As an authorized Medela dealer, we carry a number of electric breast pumps available for rent or purchase. We also offer and can order specialized attachments and replacement parts as needed.
- Nursing Bras: One of our experienced lactation consultants can help you find the correct nursing bra to provide you with the comfort and support you need. We are proud to carry Bravado/ Medela nursing bras.
- Breastfeeding Supplies and Accessories: We carry a number of breastfeeding and infant accessories including nursing pillows, herbal supplements for mom, natural bath and body products, and swaddle blankets.
Online Support
Facebook: Coordinated by one of our lactation consultants, our Facebook page is dedicated to supporting and connected local breastfeeding moms. It’s a great resource for simple questions and idea sharing. The page is very active in discussion about many topics of relevance to new and expectant moms. If you’re interested, simply search for the Kish Hospital Breastfeeding Support Group or Valley West Breastfeeding Support Group and submit your request to join, we’d love to have you!
Nursery Notebook: Expectant moms and parents of children up through age 24 months are invited to sign-up for our e-newsletter with content specific to you!
