Twenty Kishwaukee Community Hospital Auxiliary members were recently inducted into the 500 Hour Club. Each year the Auxiliary recognizes members who have steadily volunteered services for 500 hours or more.
This year’s 500 Club members are Mark Balkcom, Barbara Buell, Jack Case, Grace Catron, Lucille Chaffee, Robert Creed, Jeannette Gustafson (post humously), Bruce Kremer, Gertrude Kremer, Mary Langley, Catherine Leung, Beverly Murphy, Mary Ann Nash, Madeline O’Brien, Elaine Rosado, Mary Lou Schaeffer, Martha Snyder, Marjorie Vonderheide, Oneita Waltenberger, and Nancy Woods.
KCH employees and patients benefit from these volunteer efforts, and the volunteers feel satisfaction from giving their time.
The Auxiliary is a great asset to the hospital as well as the community. Volunteers provided 24,300 hours of service this past fiscal year, a value of $424,728 . In addition, the Auxiliary does fund-raising for the hospital through the Gift Shop, Ball, Potpourri and other activities, and this year donated $120,000 toward its $500,000 pledge to the new hospital campaign. Another $25,000 was provided for healthcare scholarships.
In addition, Auxiliary members have made personal donations to the new hospital campaign totaling more than $2 million.
“The level of commitment that our volunteers display amazes me,” said Volunteer Services Director Paula von Ende. “They truly are wonderful dedicated people. I have never worked with a better group.”
