KCH breaks ground for medical office building
October 3, 2006

Emily Hummel has joined KishHealth System’s Employee Assistance and Oupatient Counseling Program as a counselor.

Emily K. Hummel has joined the counseling team at KishHealth System’s Employee Assistance and Outpatient Counseling Program. Hummel is a licensed therapist, with over 15 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families.

Raised and educated in New England, Hummel graduated with a BS in Psychology from Smith College before she relocated to the Midwest. She has made Sycamore her home since 1985, where she lives with her husband Paul. They have three grown children. She continued her education at Northern Illinois University, receiving her MS in Family and Child Studies and completed her training as a marriage and family therapist there in 1993.

As a clinician, Hummel is well grounded in family systems theory. She enjoys the challenge of getting to know and interact with as many members of a family as she can fit into a room. She has worked extensively with young children and their families in DeKalb County, first through TEAM for Families and later through Community Coordinated Child Care.

As an employee assistance professional, Hummel has done workplace presentations in the western suburbs and conducted a wide variety of workplace consultations. Her dynamic, personable style mixed with a depth of knowledge and experience makes her a great communicator.
