Laurie Chilton, RN and Community Wellness Nurse Educator, recently received the Partners in Progress Award from the Fox Valley chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was recognized for her contributions to the KCH Wellness Club in facilitating two cancer awareness programs. She presented a program on breast cancer with Kim Bourdages, RN, a cancer survivor, and a colon cancer program with Ted Brock, RN, of the Kishwaukee Cancer Care Center.

The Partners in Progress Award is given to a person or group of people who help the American Cancer Society accomplish the goal of reducing cancer mortality and incidence. Laurie won the award specifically for Health Initiatives, which is the health education component of the organization.

Candidates for the award are nominated by American Cancer Society employees. “Laurie fit the criteria for the Partners in Progress Award and we are very happy to have had the opportunity to present her with it,” said Lynn Herrmann, MPH, American Cancer Society Health Initiatives representative.
