Quilters guild donates to Foundation
Febuary 15, 2007

Members of the DeKalb County Quilters’ Guild present a check for $3,000 to the Kishwaukee Health Foundation to help underwrite the cost of mammograms for Tri County Community Health Center clients. Pictured from right are KHF Executive Director Renee Simons, and DCQG members Linda Heilbrun and Sharon Smith. Smith is an 18-year cancer survivor and Heilbrun a three and a half year survivor.

Members of the DeKalb County Quilters’ Guild recently donated $3,000 to the Kishwaukee Health Foundation to help provide mammograms to uninsured women in the community.

The Quilters Guild established the fund with the Kishwaukee Health Foundation in 2003, to help underwrite the cost of screening and diagnostic mammograms for Tri County Community Health clients who have no insurance coverage. Tri County is located in the Grant Building on the campus of Kishwaukee College, Malta.

Members of the Guild auctioned 100 miniature quilts in a silent auction at their recent bi-annual quilt show. Proceeds from the silent auction are used to support the DeKalb County Quilter’s Guild mammo fund.
Other organizations and community members are invited to take part in this worthwhile cause by making donations to this fund. For more information, contact Renee Simons, Executive Director of the Kishwaukee Health Foundation, at 1.815.748.8902 or email rsimons@kishhealth.org
