Cheryl Fisher, RN, MS

Cheryl Fisher, RN, MS, recently accepted the position of Director of Nursing for KishHealth System. Previously she was the Director of Professional Practice for Kishwaukee Community Hospital and Valley West Community Hospital.

Fisher’s responsibilities included accreditation and regulatory compliance, staff education, student education and clinical recruiting. She had a key part in developing the new patient care model and has been instrumental in promoting professional certification of the nursing staff in their specialty. Fisher has been working with other stakeholders in the Northern Illinois area to address initiatives to combat the shortage of nurses.

In her new position Fisher will be overseeing and working closely with the nursing leadership teams from both hospitals.
Laura Duffey, RN, MS, has assumed many of Fisher’s previous responsibilities and is now Director of Quality and Clinical Education for KCH and VWCH. Previously she was the Performance Improvement Coordinator at KCH.

Duffey was instrumental in developing performance improvement processes and implementing patient safety initiatives. She assisted with a continuous survey readiness program for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and regulatory bodies at KCH. She has also been active at the state level in facilitating patient safety initiatives through the Illinois Hospital Association. Prior to her position as PI Coordinator, Duffey was the Senior Coordinator and Clinical Development Coordinator for the KCH Center for Behavior Health.

In her new position, Duffey will direct quality and patient safety programs and oversee the Pain Clinic, infection control and clinical education through the Clinical Development Coordinators. She will also be directing survey readiness for JCAHO and other accreditation or regulatory surveys.

Lorena Corral recently joined KishHealth System as a clinical recruiter for KCH and VWCH. As a clinical recruiter, Corral works with managers at KCH and VWCH to fill open positions in clinical areas.

Previously, Corral worked at Provena Mercy Medical Center, Aurora, as a recruiter for both clinical and non-clinical positions.
