March of Dimes Announces Kick-Off for 2007 Walk America

DeKalb-Jessica and Chad Stewart of DeKalb and their triplet sons are the 2007 ambassador family for the March of Dimes Walk America to be held Saturday, April 28 at Hopkins Park, DeKalb.
The family was introduced Feb. 26, at the kick-off event held at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. The hospital is presenting sponsor of the walk.
Mary Struthers from the Northern Illinois Division of the March of Dimes introduced the 2007 ambassador family and honorary chair, Michael Cullen, President and CEO of the National Bank and Trust Company.
The Stewarts told their touching story of having premature triplets and how the work of the March of Dimes has impacted their family. The boys, Christian, Matthew and Grayson, are now healthy one year olds.
Both the Stewarts and Cullen will work hard over the next two months to spread the word about WalkAmerica.
Struthers also presented plaques to the top walkers and teams from the 2006 WalkAmerica event. Kristi Wigg was the top individual fundraiser raising $3,737.00. “Our Little Angel” led by Andy and Lisa Kijowski was the top family team fundraiser with $7,826.00. “NIU Sparklers” led by Dorothy Razniewski raised $2,187.00 and “Kishwaukee Community Hospital” led by Kim Heinisch raised $1,980.00. They both earned the top team award.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies.
