Relay For Life 2007
April 24, 2007
The 12th annual Relay For Life of DeKalb County will be held June 23, 6:30 p.m. through June 24, 6:30 a.m., at the Sycamore High School track. The overnight event honors all cancer survivors at any state of diagnosis or treatment, celebrates survivorship and raises money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society.
Teams raise money and walk all night to remember that cancer never sleeps. A member of each team is asked to be on the track during the relay.
The event will also include a luminaria ceremony at dusk. Luminaria can be purchased for $5 in honor of a loved one. All names of loved ones will be read during the ceremony.
Activities for the whole family will take place throughout the evening including a silent auction, games, live music, food and themed laps.
Cancer survivors and caregivers are encouraged to attend the Relay For Life of DeKalb County. Survivors are eligible to receive medals, t-shirts, and participate in the survivor lap during the opening ceremonies. A separate Cancer Survivor Dinner is also being planned for June 4.
Volunteers are welcomed and needed to help during the event.
Relay For Life of DeKalb County is presented by Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
