Full time cardiologist joins KCH medical staff
June 22, 2007
Dr. Asim Nisar, a board certified cardiologist, has been named medical director of Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s Cardiology Services, the Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Rehab.
Dr. Nisar, who has more than 20 years’ experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiology, has moved to the community. He and his group, Cardiac and Vascular Specialists, are providing 24/7 coverage for the hospital, said Brad Copple, KCH administrator.
“Dr. Nisar’s arrival means we can continue to offer patients around the clock cardiovascular care and a physician to perform peripheral vascular procedures. He also will guide our efforts to seek a certificate of need from the state for a cardiac catheterization lab in the new hospital. He is a welcome addition to the active medical staff,” Copple said.
Dr. Nisar’s four-doctor group practices in Elgin and Huntley, and now in the DeKalb area. He has been with the group since 1985, performing interventional cardiac procedures and peripheral procedures primarily at Sherman Hospital, Elgin, which has a respected cardiology program.
“We have been seeing more of our patient base moving west, and began to look at this area,” Dr. Nisar said.
“With the blessing of my partners, I am devoting my time to growing the practice,” he said. ”Being involved with expanding services for the new hospital is very exciting.”
Starting immediately, Dr. Nisar has regular office hours at the hospital during the week and will be available evenings and weekends.
“It’s important to have someone here, not just to rotate here,” Dr. Nisar said, which is why I am living in the community.”
In addition to being board certified in internal medicine, he is board certified in interventional cardiology, echocardiography and critical care medicine. For the time being, his office is located in the hospital’s Cardiology Lab.
