Dr. Scianna Lectures in Mexico

Joseph M. Scianna, MD, was an invited lecturer at Hospital Angeles in Guadalajara, Mexico at the International Course on Nasal and Paranasal Pathology. The international conference on sinus and nasal disorders took place Jan. 29 to 31. Scianna was one of four American physician panelists invited to speak on various topics. He joined other well-respected physicians in the field, Dr. Brad Marple, Dr. Steve Sobol and Dr. John DelGaudio. Dr. Scianna presented five lectures and two roundtable discussions about balloon sinuplasty, pathophysiology of chronic sinusitis, superantigens and H. Pylori in chronic sinusitis, management of complications of chronic sinusitis, medical therapy and chronic sinusitis. Dr. Scianna was on two expert panel discussions focusing on the definitions, management and treatment of allergic fungal sinusitis and massive polyp disease. The trip was hosted by Dr.Andres Badial of Hospital Angeles.
Dr. Scianna spoke recently about the subject of ototoxicity at the Kishwaukee Community Hospital ’s Continuing Medical Education for physicians. He also has lectured to the Speech Pathology students at
on head and neck cancer. Dr. Scianna has an upcoming lecture to the Audiology students at NIU about the pathology of the middle ear and on the business of audiology. In addition to his involvement in speaking engagements, Dr. Scianna has published chapters in two new books, Practical Head and Neck Oncology: The Complete Head and Neck Exam and Revision Sinus Surgery: Complications in Revision Sinus Surgery: Presentation and Management, and a new journal article has been accepted for publication in Neurosurgery: Clinicopathologic Review, “Esthesioneuroblastoma.” Northern Illinois University
