Generous Donation Helps Nurses
April 3, 2009
Kishwaukee Health Foundation received a generous gift in honor of Mary Klein, RN, which was directed to the KHS Nursing Development Fund. Mary Klein is a nurse on the intensive care unit at Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
The donation was a posthumous gift in memory of Lad Moudry to honor and recognize Mary for her extraordinary, compassionate and loving care. The donation was a Christmas gift from Peggy Moudry Mitchell, Mr. Moudry’s daughter, and her husband, Tom. They are incredibly grateful for Mary’s loving care during a difficult time. A leaf has also been placed on Kishwaukee Health Foundation’s Forest of Life, located on the garden level of the hospital, to thank her for her devoted care.
The KHS Nursing Development Fund provides an on-going mechanism to fund KishHealth System nurses pursuing opportunities to fulfill professional development goals. The recipient of the Nurse of the Year Award is awarded a scholarship from this fund which further enhances clinical excellence in delivering patient care.
The Kishwaukee Health Foundation was established in 1988 as the philanthropic arm of the KishHealth System. Kishwaukee Health Foundation supports the caring mission of KishHealth System’s not for profit entities by cultivating relationships to provide funds and other resources needed to enhance our community-owned health system. The Health Foundation supports DeKalb County Hospice, Kishwaukee Community Hospital, and Valley West Community Hospital.
