First Baby of the New Year Born at Kishwaukee Community Hospital

Baby Juan Lopez made history Friday as the first baby born in DeKalb County in 2009. He was born at 10:07 a.m. at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. He weighed five pounds, two ounces.
His parents are Mariela Ramos and Juan Lopez of DeKalb. Baby Juan, the couple’s first baby, was born a full month early, but is healthy and doing well. His grandparents, Ana and Juan Lopez, were pleased to welcome their fifth grandchild.
The Ramos/Lopez family received a special New Year’s Baby Basket with gift items and certificates donated by the Kish Hospital Auxiliary and several area businesses, including Wal-Mart, Kishwaukee YMCA, National Bank & Trust, Za Za Nail Spa, and Priority Promotions.
