Recently the DeKalb Elks #765 Softball Team made a donation to The Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. The money was raised through the team members paying $50 for their jerseys, $30 of which was donated to the center.

Desiring to keep the donation local, the team chose to donate to The Cancer Center since several of the team members have family members who are survivors of cancer, are currently battling cancer, or have died of cancer. The team asked that the money go to The Cancer Center to be used for oncology support programs for patients and their families. These programs include massage therapy, exercise programs, support groups, art and music therapy, and stress reduction classes. Renee Ellingson, KishHealth Foundation executive director said, “Thank you DeKalb Elks Softball Team for the generous donation. We appreciate your helping our local cancer patients and families.”

Custom Ink, the company that made the t-shirts, donated $20 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in support of the team.
