Endocrinologist joins medical staff
March 12, 2010
Dr. Amer Kassar, an endocrinologist, has joined the Kishwaukee and Valley West Community Hospital medical staffs, and will have a full time practice in the medical office building attached to the Kish Hospital.
Because of the prevalence of diabetes and thyroid problems in our population, endocrinology has been a recruitment priority for us for several years,” said Joseph Dant, KishHealth System vice president of business development. “We’re thrilled that Dr. Kassar has selected our community for his practice and that local physicians will no longer have to refer patients out of town for this more specialized care.”
Dr. Kassar treats endocrine disorders, including thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary and adrenal gland disorders; diabetes, hyperlipidemia and osteoporosis.
“I believe that patient satisfaction and team work with my co-workers are the most important elements for having a successful practice,” said Dr. Kassar.
Dr. Kassar is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism as well as board certified in internal medicine. He recently completed a two-year fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He previously practiced in Milwaukee. He completed his residency at St. John Hospital and Medical center in Detroit, and attended medical school at the University of Damascus.
Dr. Kassar’s office is located adjacent to Kish Hospital’s Diabetes Education Center on the second floor of the attached medical office building. For an appointment, call 815.748.8335.Share |
