Behavioral Health Services Expanding
February 4, 2011
KishHealth System welcomes Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health to its counseling center at 760 Foxpointe Drive, Sycamore, and invites the public to an open house and tour Friday, Feb. 11, 3-6 p.m.
Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health, based in Hoffman Estates, is providing an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) to treat complex issues, such as eating disorders and self-injury, as well as co-occurring mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. The Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health IOP is a structured program that allows individuals to continue to work and/or go to school, yet participate in an intensive program. Components of the IOP include group therapy, psycho-educational groups and individual case management.
KishHealth services include counseling for young children, adolescents, adults, couples and families; adult psychiatric evaluation and medication management; groups and classes for anger management, depression, and dialectical behavior therapy; the Child Development Clinic for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder and oppositional defiant disorder; and Employee Assistance Programs.
“Nearly two years ago, we began having conversations with some of the stakeholders in the community who identified structured outpatient programs as a community need,” said Don Mitckess, clinical liaison for Alexian Brothers. “Our goal in bringing this service line to the Sycamore/DeKalb area is to provide a more robust range of behavioral health treatment options to residents. We hope to actively collaborate with outpatient providers in the community to provide a more intensive level of care. ”
Kim Volk, director of KishHealth System’s Behavioral Health Services, said Alexian Brothers Intensive Outpatient Program brings a new dimension to the services already available in the community. “We will be looking for ways to collaborate on both the treatment side and ways we can reach out to educators, parents and clergy to provide education and support.”Share |
