Kishhealth system Welcomes new director of risk management

Laura DeSilva, RN, MBA, is the new director of Risk Management for KishHealth System.

Laura DeSilva, RN, MBA, has joined the staff of KishHealth System as director of Risk Management. She has been successful in implementing and overseeing risk management programs in other healthcare facilities.            

DeSilva brings many years of leadership experience to KishHealth System. During the last eight years, DeSilva worked at Alexian Brothers Health Network in Arlington Heights, Edward Hospital in Naperville, and Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park demonstrating success in achieving quality outcomes, the advancement of patient safety, and the satisfaction of patients, staff and physicians. She received her Masters in Business Administration from Lake Forest Graduate School in 2003. Before receiving her MBA, DeSilva was a nurse for 30 years. While at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Melrose Park, DeSilva spent seven years as the director of Emergency Services followed by three years as the director of Nursing. She has published several articles, her most recent work, “Basics of Emergency Management Planning,” can be found in the ASHRM Patient Safety Newsletter, July 2010.
