New S.T.A.B.L.E. Instructor at Valley West and Kishwaukee Community Hospitals

Mary Ann Aromin, a certified registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant(IBCLC) at Valley West Community Hospital, Sandwich, has become KishHealth System’s first official S.T.A.B.L.E. instructor. Previously, KishHealth System nurses sought training outside of the health system; now Aromin will train nurses at both Valley West and Kishwaukee Community Hospitals.
The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program, first introduced in 1996 in the U.S. and Canada, focuses on the specialized care and stabilization of critically ill and high risk newborns. S.T.A.B.L.E. is an acronym for Sugar and Safe Care; Temperature; Airway; Blood Pressure; Lab Work; and Emotional Support. Obstetrics nurses must recertify S.T.A.B.L.E. status every two years. To qualify as an instructor one must provide proof of Level 2+ or Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit experience, then must pass an exam demonstrating an advanced knowledge base.
