New pediatrician in dekalb
September 08, 2011
Pediatrician Mayuri Morker, MD, has joined the practice of Dr. Umesh Goswami at Children’s Health Care Center in DeKalb. She also has joined the Kishwaukee Community Hospital medical staff and will be caring for newborns in the hospital’s Maternity Suites.
“The hospital partnered with Dr. Goswami in this recruitment effort to help meet the demand for pediatric services in our region,” said Joseph Dant, vice president of business development for KishHealth System.
Dr. Morker sees her role as being an advocate for children and working with parents to help children stay healthy and to resolve problems when they arise. “I’m especially focused on assessing my patients’ progress and helping them successfully reach milestones in their growth and development,” she said.
By practicing and living in DeKalb, Dr. Morker is staying close to her hometown of Northlake, a suburb of Chicago, where she graduated high school. She’s also close to other family members who are physicians, including an uncle who practices at DeKalb Clinic and a cousin who practices at Kishwaukee Medical Associates.
While attending medical school in Chicago, she did community work in the inner city and also returned to her birthplace in India to do medical volunteer work in the underprivileged areas of Bombay.
“I’m looking forward to being involved in the DeKalb-Sycamore community and taking care of kids,” she said.
Dr. Morker completed medical school at Rush Medical College in Chicago and her pediatric residency at Advocated Christ/Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn. Learn more about Dr. Morker by viewing her video profile at www.kishfindadoctor.org.
