9th Annual Community Spelling Bee!

Thursday, October 16, 2008
Best Wester Inn & Suites | DeKalb

Don’t get caught up in the summer crunch before getting ready to have tons of fun and support literacy. We are proud partners again with Verizon, The Daily Chronicle and the DeKalb County Community Foundation
Literacy is a primary focus of Altrusa International. Numerous outstanding literacy programs are already in place in DeKalb County, many of which could be enhanced with additional funding. This past year over $10,000 was used to fund a variety of community literacy projects. In addition a portion of each year’s Spelling Bee proceeds is added to a literacy fund through the DeKalb County Community Foundation. Proceeds also help to fund the Newspapers In Education program sponsored by the Daily Chronicle.

PARTICIPATION OPPORTUNITIES
Team Sponsor
We invite individuals, companies, and organizations in DeKalb County to participate by entering a three-person team for an entry fee of $300 per team.

Need spellers?
If you are willing to sponsor a team but have no spellers we will find the spellers for your team.

Have spellers but no money?
We will find a team sponsor for you. Just let us know if you are interested.

RAFFLE PRIZE DONOR
Each year team members and “cheerleaders” have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets for prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

Join us again this year for an evening of exciting competition! We look forward to working with you toward another successful event. For further information or if you are interested in participating, please contact Karen Hagen, at 756-3000 or khagen@kishhospital.com or Susan Springer at the Daily Chronicle, 756-4841 or Sspringer@chroniclenewsgroup.com.
